Midnight in The Garden of Good and Evil

“12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”– Ephesians 6:12

“I lift up my eyes to the hills– where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

-Psalm 121

The garden

The sweat,became blood.

As Jesus prayed.

His disciples, slept. Not understanding what was about to happen.

Just like the world was not ready

When he came into it

It was uncomprehending

As he was leaving it….

But he prayed

Because from the beginning

This was the plan

From the time Adam bit …

And God said

“Who told you,you were naked?”

This was the plan

To restore mankind

To that place

Of closeness with God

To take the keys

Of death…

And Deliver us

This moment

In time

God was on earth

Among men

And stepping on the neck  of the serpent…

Earth shook

And the skies opened

As Jesus bled out on a cross

Everything in creation

Knew what was happening

was dying ...

And in that moment

The veil in the temple

Was torn from top to bottom

As christ breathed

“It is finished”

we gained access to the Kingdom of heaven

There is no deed

No formula

His blood on the altar

Finished it.

God has never been rubbing his hands together

Worrying about the future

He has always had a plan

But for those

In that moment

They didn’t know about Sunday

About the resurrection

We have that hope

The hope in Sunday

We have the hope of his return

The story isn’t quite finished yet

Isn’t about a formula

It has always been

“Who told you,you were naked?”

That’s all God said

Who gave you a different self image

Than what I gave you?

And he’s been restoring that image

Ever since

One day,soon.

We will see

The end

And wonder how those forces

Took the skies from us

And why we ever doubted

We are not naked

He clothed us

He gave us Beauty for ashes

He defeated death

He defeated  razor blades

We have the right to exist

In Him

And we have that access

This victory
